Contraception Options:

Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices (IUDs)

An intrauterine device (IUD) is a small, contraceptive device placed inside the uterus (womb) to prevent pregnancy. It comes in two varieties:

  • Hormonal IUD (Mirena & Kyleena)
  • Copper IUD

Inserting an IUD requires the expertise of a trained medical professional and offers long-term contraceptive benefits, lasting from 5 to 10 years. We provide comprehensive guidance, including information, advice, insertion, and ongoing management for both hormonal (Mirena & Kyleena) and non-hormonal (copper) options. We offer different levels of pain relief depending on your personal needs.

Hormonal Contraception

  • Contraceptive Pill, commonly known as ‘the pill,’ is a daily oral contraceptive containing a combination of hormones to prevent pregnancy. Our services include personalized prescriptions, advice, and assistance in managing any associated side effects.
  • Implanon is a discreet, small plastic rod inserted beneath the skin of the upper arm, releasing contraceptive hormones over a span of three years. We provide comprehensive services including counselling, insertion, and ongoing support for Implanon users, including the management of any side effects such as irregular bleeding. Additionally, we are skilled in Implanon removal procedures.
  • Contraceptive Injection (Depo) is a hormonal shot administered every three months to prevent pregnancy. It’s typically administered in the buttocks or upper arm muscle by a qualified medical professional.
  • Vaginal Ring is a flexible plastic ring inserted high into the vagina, delivering contraceptive hormones similarly to the pill.
  • Progesterone-Only Pill is a daily tablet containing progestogen, offering a reliable method of contraception.
